August 26, 2004 -- Mercado San Miguel (www.MercadoSanMiguel.com) is a unique Internet portal designed for visitors to to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico who are interested in exploring the arts community here.
Mercado, which goes onto the World Wide Web this month, connects international art collectors with local artists, Mexican folk art and galleries through online and direct marketing.
Shari Reynolds, a San Miguel resident with over 10 years experience in web design and promotion, has created the attractive site.
San Miguel was recently named as one of the Top Ten destinations in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. "Many people travel to San Miguel see the magical art community but are disappointed when they don't meet the artists who make their home here," Shari says. "With Mercado San Miguel, visitors can take advantage of an extraordinary opportunity to meet the artists, writers, photographers, and designers who make San Miguel their home -- before they make the trip. On the site they can plan studio and gallery tours, then meet the artists in person while visiting."
"The unique feature about Mercado San Miguel is that it targets art buyers specifically and works to build onetoone marketing relationships between artists, galleries, and buyers," Shari says. "The site allows visitors to shop for San Miguel arts, classes, and services even before they arrive here... and for those buyers to continue their relationship with the artists and gallery owners they befriend on their visit."
This month, Mercado San Miguel goes online with these featured artists and photographers: Gary Slipper, Anado Mclauchlin, Annemarie Slipper, Christina Sol, Dawn Gaskill, Deborah Whitehouse, Angelina Perez and Patrice Wynne.
