Resume-Writing Home-Based Business in Arizona receives national Ruby Slipper Award

Kathy Sweeney owner of Ariz.-based The Write Resume is the recipient of the national Ruby Slipper Award, which seeks to honor an outstanding home-based business owner.

Chandler, AZ Jan 19 2004--Kathy Sweeney, owner of The Write Resume in Chandler, Ariz., was named the recipient of the 2004 Ruby Slipper Award. The national award was created by Janet Drez, owner of Chandler, Ariz.-based home-based business consulting firm A Perfect Solution. It was created to recognize the significant contributions home-based businesses make today. Why ruby slippers? Because, according to Drez, "there's no place like home" for home-based business owners.

Sweeney's company, The Write Resume has been providing resume writing and employment consulting since 1987. Sweeney assists job seekers in every aspect of the job search process, from determining which career they might want to enter, to writing their employment-related documents, to assisting with job transitions and interview coaching.

"I am so thrilled to be the recipient of this prestigious award," commented Sweeney, "I believe that the recognition that home-based business owners will receive from this award will communicate to the business world that being a success in business does not always mean bricks and mortar."

The applicants were judged on their business overview and personal story, leadership of the company, community involvement, the most rewarding aspect of owning a home-based business, and the greatest challenge faced by the business owner.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Sweeney will receive a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted Ruby Slipper Award shoe at a breakfast awards presentation, before she takes off in a hot air balloon as part of the award prizes. "I've never been in a hot air balloon and think it is such a fun idea to tie into the Ruby Slipper and Wizard of Oz theme," added Sweeney.

The continental breakfast and awards ceremony will be held in the open field at the northwest corner of Cave Creek and Jomax roads in Scottsdale, Ariz., in conjunction with the balloon launch. Muffins and coffee will be served and the breakfast is free and open to any home-based business owner who would like to join in the excitement, have a chance to congratulate the winner and enjoy some great networking. The Ruby Slipper Award recipient was selected by an independent, national judging panel.
